Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th in 1980) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. The first Broadway roles are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working with prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. As an Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford is set to appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was in two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Her additional Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and grew up there.
